Terror in a Toga

Friday, January 24, 7-9:30 PM
Location: Hackney’s On Lake, 1514 E Lake Ave., Glenview

Drinks and food will be available for purchase.

The Scene:

An evening of gladiator warfare and celebration is planned for all of Rome to enjoy. At the heart of the excitement sits Felix Festus, a lanista looking to win the public favor – and in doing so, a Senate seat – with the donation of his gladiators for exhibition. Although lives will be spared in the arena, the same will not hold true at the festivities…

During the evening a character will be murdered and the guests need to figure out who did it.

Each participant will have a character with background information and guidelines for behavior. Goals will be provided, which will help bring certain clues to light and add personality to the event; but be aware, they can also be deceiving. Everyone will receive fake money to use for bribery, extortion, blackmail—whatever creative means you can think of to solve the crime (or to protect your secrets).

Props will be provided, but everyone is encouraged to come in costume– immerse yourself in your character and have fun!

There will be awards for best dressed, best portrayal of your character, collecting the most fake money, and successfully guessing the murderer.

Visit or call the Reference Desk at 847-729-7500 to register. You will be asked to choose your character. View list of available characters. Must be 21+ to participate.
