FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Sounds like fun! Can you give me a better idea of how this works?
When you arrive, you will check in and have up to 45 minutes to enjoy a drink and some appetizers, and mingle with the guests along with the actors from Murder Mystery Company. The actors will ask one guest to be the victim, and the other to be the suspect! Not interested in either role? No worries – the actors will only choose people who are enthusiastic about taking one of the parts.
The actors will then start their performance which sets the scene and explains how the evening will work. There are three Acts to the performance, and in between, guests will have an opportunity to search for clues, and try and solve the crime.
The crime will be solved about 10:15 PM.
I heard I can buy “hints” or “clues” to help solve the crime. How does this work?
The “hints” or “clues” are really packages of bribe money. Yes, the suspects and other characters are susceptible to such things! During the evening, you can use the bribe money to gain additional clues that will help you solve the crime (and gain an advantage!). Our supply of bribe money available for pre-purchase (e.g. when you purchase tickets) is sold out! However, bribe moneywill be available at the event, but on the evening of October 22 itcan be purchased CASH ONLY. After all, the theme is Love the 80’s….back then we didn’t have smartphones, Venmo, Zelle, or wifi. But we did have ATMs!
Do we need to be there at a specific time?
Yes! We would recommend all guests arrive no later than 8 PM as the fun will begin at 8:15 when the actors will present Act I and set the scene for the crime and the investigation. If you want a chance to be either the victim or the suspect, we would suggest arriving early enough to meet the actors from the Murder Mystery Company… they are the people who will be selecting the parts.
In order to facilitate the process, we are offering an early check in period beginning at 7 PM. Please keep in mind that the event officially starts at 7:30 PM. That is when the food and cash bar will be available.
Should I dress for the theme? Remind me what people wore in the 1980s.
Absolutely (though certainly not required). Think bold designs and bright colors, acid washed and ripped jeans, bomber jackets, baggy denim shirts, cut off sweatshirts and polo shirts. Big hair for women and mullets for men. Track suits, spandex, and we can’t forget leg warmers. Chunky sweaters and shirts with lots of lace and frills. Bring back memories?
What else should I know?
