Youth Services – Paraprofessional I, Part-Time
The Glenview Public Library has a part-time opening for a Paraprofessional I in the Youth Services Department. Duties include, but are not limited to: assisting children through grade eight and their caregivers with finding materials, instructing patrons in the use of the online catalog and computer resources, handling event registrations, filling displays, assisting with collection-related duties, opportunities to plan and conduct programming and performing other tasks as assigned.
Applicants should enjoy working with children of all ages and patrons from diverse backgrounds, be proficient in the use of technology and able to collaborate and work well within a team environment. Position requires excellent communication and customer service skills. The ideal candidate will be outgoing, self-motivated, possess an enthusiastic attitude and demonstrate familiarity with children’s literature.
Schedule: Approximately 22 hours per week; must be able to work a flexible schedule which will include days, evenings and a weekend rotation. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or an LTA certificate and a minimum of one year relevant library experience working with youth, preferably in a public library setting. Salary: $15.88 – $17.87 per hour, DOQ. Position includes some benefits.

Reference Services Department – Paraprofessional II, Part-Time
The Glenview Public Library seeks a part-time Paraprofessional II in the Reference Services Department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, helping patrons with informational and directional questions, in person and over the phone, at a busy public service desk; instructing patrons in the use of the online databases and ILS catalog; and various other duties within the department. This may include coordinating displays, assisting in or teaching computer classes, and selecting print materials in assigned area.
Applicants should enjoy working with the public, be proficient in the use of technology, be able to work within a team environment and demonstrate familiarity with a nonfiction collection. Excellence in customer service in patron and staff interactions and strong communication skills are required.

Head of Reference Services
Glenview Public Library seeks an energetic, creative individual with a broad working knowledge of Reference in a public library environment, and strong personnel skills to lead its Reference Services Department. The position requires excellent communication skills, innovative approaches to organizing, problem solving and knowledge of library trends and technology, including online databases and integrated library systems. Responsible for all aspects of administration and management of the Reference Services Department, including personnel, budget, and long-range planning as well as other Reference programs and initiatives, including technology classes, gaming, murder mystery programs and STEAM activities. The Head of Reference is also responsible for the Library’s Genealogy and Local History Center, and will be an active participant in helping to design the Library’s new Innovation Center and Marketplace. The Head of Reference is an integral part of the Library’s Management Team.
Requirements: MLS from an ALA accredited institution and minimum of five years’ progressively responsible experience required, including administration and management of a library unit, preferably in a Reference Services public library environment. Hiring range: $67,332 – $84,165 (DOQ)

Circulation – Shelver I
Do you enjoy organizing, have an eye for detail and are energetic? We are interested in hearing from you! The Shelver I position is responsible for sorting and shelving all library materials, searching for materials as requested, as well as, maintaining the orderliness of all library collections.
Schedule: This 18 hour a week position requires someone with scheduling flexibility and includes day, night and weekend hours. Requirements: Applicants must have a high school degree or equivalent. Circulation – Clerk I
The Glenview Public Library is interested in hiring an experienced and reliable Clerk who can assist with a variety of general clerical proficiencies relative to the circulation of library materials. This includes library card registration, answering phones and addressing inquiries, resolve customer concerns, verify and update account information, assist with payments and refunds, and more.
The successful applicant will be the front-end representative of the library, so he or she must have strong interpersonal skills, a polite and friendly disposition, and be readily available to greet patrons and direct them as necessary.
Schedule: This position is 17 hours weekly. Schedule must be flexible to include afternoons, two evenings and every other weekend. Requirements: Applicants should have knowledge of personal computers, including e-mail and Windows based operations. Experience with Polaris, our automated library system (ILS), is a plus. Minimum of a high school diploma or GED; library experience is preferred. Hiring Range: $9.97 – $11.22 hourly (DOQ).
