Youth Public Services Associate (Part-Time)
The Glenview Public Library is seeking enthusiastic, resourceful, and outgoing candidates for two part-time Youth Public Services Associate positions with the primary responsibility to provide a warm and welcoming environment for a culturally diverse community and to actively promote library resources, programs, and services to children through grade eight and their families. Associates will also assist with implementing and maintaining youth book and material displays, compile reading lists and other patron related documents, perform routine collection tasks, program support, and more.
Applicants must enjoy working with children and the public, be proficient in the use of technology and able to work collaboratively and productively within a team environment. Position requires excellence in communication and customer service interactions with both patrons and staff. Ideal candidates will demonstrate familiarity with children’s literature, good judgement, a positive attitude, and can-do spirit.
Schedule: 20 hours per week; must be available to cover day, evening, and weekend hours year round
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or LTA certificate or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience working with children and families in a library or educationally related environment
Salary: $17 per hour; qualifies for IMRF and PTO benefits
