Great programs for the winter season. Unless otherwise noted, preference is given to Glenview Library cardholders when reigstration is required.
Drop-In Chess Club (up to grade 8)
Fridays, December 2, January 6, February 3 • Youth Program Room
Volunteer chess instructor Steve Levenson lends his excellent instruction and advice. Bring your own chess set if possible. Children ages 8 and under must be accompanied by a parent.
YMCA Preschool Art Class (ages 3-5 with an adult)

The North Suburban YMCA Art Academy provides experiences for preschoolers to create
art. Parent or caregiver must be present. Glenview Library cardholders only.
Service Buddies: Tsunami Recovery
Saturday, January 28, 2-3 PM • Youth Program Room
Registration begins December 28 for grades 5-8
Registration begins December 28 for grades 1-4
A special opportunity for kids in grades 1-8 to earn service hours. Service Buddies will
reach out to a special needs class at an elementary school in Shiogama, Japan to
mark the one-year anniversary of the Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami. Grades 5-8 must
arrive at 1:30 PM for a briefing.
Puppet University Workshop
Putting on a Show!(grades 3 & up)
Thursday, February 23, 6-7:30 PM • Youth Program Room
Saturday, February 25, 9:30-Noon • Community Room
Registration begins January 23
Become a Puppet University Puppeteer and help put on a show. Attend two rehearsals to
learn about characters, puppet manipulation, stage direction, cues, and music. Invite family and
friends to see the show, February 25, 11:30 AM. Students in grades 6 & up may request service hour credits.
Kid Safety Seminar (grades K & up with a parent)
Saturday, March 3, 1:30-2:30 PM • Community Room
Registration begins February 3
Personal Achievement Academy Instructor Kristin Miller, of Glenview Martial Arts & Fitness, will present a professional safety class on important safety topics and self-protection techniques.
Students will receive a study-guide, take-home test, and fingerprinting/missing child kit.
