Large Type Books
A collection of popular Large Type fiction and non-fiction books are available for patron checkout.
New Large Type Books

Audiobooks
A large collection of audiobooks on tape and on CD can be checked out for three weeks.

Periodicals
Glenview Library subscribes to Readers Digest and The New York Times in large print.

Homebound Book Delivery
Books from our collection are delivered monthly to homebound senior citizens residing in the village of Glenview. Please contact the Outreach Librarian at (847)729-7500 ext. 150.

Talking Books
In association with the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, the Library of Congress offers the Voices of Vision talking books program to qualified patrons. If a physical or visual disability prevents you from reading books, you may be eligible for this free service. For more information or an application, please contact the Outreach Librarian at (847)729-7500 ext. 150.

Book discussions and other types of programs can be arranged for a facility or group by request. Please contact the Outreach Librarian at (847)729-7500 ext. 150 for more information.

Senior Book Discussion Group
Meets at 1:00 pm on the first Monday of every month.

Special Accommodations
Glenview Public Library complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Individuals with disabilities who require accommodations to allow them to participate in any library program or meeting should contact the Information Desk at least one week in advance. This will allow library staff to make the necessary accommodations.

An FM assistive listening device is available for hard of hearing patrons wishing to attend our library programs.


Equipment

Computer Workstation
Our ADA Computer Workstation is equipped with hardware and software designed to help patrons who have visual impairments (including blindness) and learning disabilities. Programs include Zoomtext, JAWS, Duxbury Braille and Openbook. If you would like to make an appointment to use this computer, please call the Outreach Librarian at (847) 729-7500 ext. 150.

Assistive Listening Devices
SoundWizard personal amplifiers are available for your use in the library or can be checked out for a three week period.

Video Magnifiers
We own two video magnifiers, one for use in the library and one which can be checked out for a period of four weeks. These machines magnify print materials larger and more clearly than hand-held magnifiers.

Cassette Players
A limited number of Standard Cassette Machines to be used with the Library of Congress Talking Books Program are available for checkout. Please contact the Outreach Librarian for availability.

TTY
A text telephone for patron use is located in the Reference Room.

Closed Caption Decoder
This device can be used with a TV to display the audio portion of a closed caption television program or video.
