Welcome to GLENergy, a special Friday afternoon break designed especially for seniors. All programs will be held at the Glenview Public Library, Community Room. Registration is required for all Glenergy programs.

Current Programs

Assistive Technology

The Library offers a number of assistive devices for use in the Library or for checkout. The Glenview Library's ADA Computer Workstation is equipped with hardware and software designed to help patrons with visual impairments or learning disabilities. If you have questions about assistive technology or the ADA Tech Room, please contact the Outreach Librarian at 847-729-7500, X 2612 prior to arrival.

Homebound Service

Glenview residents who are temporarily or permanently homebound due to an illness or disability may have library materials brought to their home. A valid Glenview Public Library card and an application are required to begin service. Contact the Outreach Librarian for more information.

Free Adult Literacy Classes

A Tool to Grow Your Reading Skills

Conducted by Oakton Community College

A unique opportunity to improve English reading and writing skills. For American-born adults or immigrants whose first language is not English, with reading skills at beginning to intermediate levels. A small, friendly group led by a teacher and volunteer tutors.

Talking Books Program

A free service providing recorded books to those with visual, physical or reading disabilities. This service is provided by Voices of Vision Talking Books program. For more information or an application, contact the Outreach Librarian.

Homebound Volunteer Corps

Volunteers pick up and deliver library materials to homebound patrons. For more information and an application, contact the Outreach Librarian.

Enhanced Materials

Large Print Books
A collection of popular large print fiction and nonfiction books are available for patron checkout.

Audiobooks
The Library offers a large variety of audiobooks available on CD, cassette, Playaway or downloadable from MyMediaMall.

Periodicals
Glenview Public Library subscribes to Readers Digest and the New York Times in large print.

Special Accommodations

Glenview Public Library complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Individuals with disabilities who require accommodations to allow them to participate in any library program or meeting should contact the Reader or Reference Services Desks for adult programs and Youth Services Desk for children's programs. The library requires five business days notice if special accommodations are needed.
