| Welcome to the December edition of Read All About It, the Glenview Public Library's newsletter for book lovers. We hope you appreciate the information we provide, and that you will contact us at 4readers@glenview.lib.il.us with any comments or suggestions. | Go on a Proquest | | | Among the many online information services that your library provides is a database called Proquest. Make it your first stop for finding newspaper articles, since Proquest indexes The Chicago Tribune, The Chicago Sun Times, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Daily Herald, and USA Today. It also covers many other Midwest and regional newspapers, nationally known magazines, and journals. One outstanding feature of Proquest is that it provides full-text access to The Chicago Tribune from 1985 through today. If you've ever tried to read The Chicago Tribune online and were disappointed to discover that in order to read most articles you first need to register and/or pay a fee, you'll appreciate how easy Proquest makes it to find older articles in the Tribune. So if you read something interesting in the Books section of the Tribune on Sunday and can't remember where you saw it on Wednesday for your book discussion, try Proquest! Searching Proquest is easy. From the first screen type a basic search in the search box. If you're looking for book reviews, try typing in a few keywords from the title, the author's last name, and the word " review." If you only want full-text articles, check that box. Don't forget to try the " scholarly journals" option if you don't get results the first time. You can access Proquest from the library's Adult Services work stations under the heading Magazines and Journals. From your home computer (using your Glenview Public Library card) go to the library's web site, http://www.glenview.lib.il.us, choose Online Resources, and find Proquest under the heading Magazines and Journals. If you need help using Proquest, either from home or when you're in the library, ask a librarian! | | Forthcoming Titles | | FICTION The Scarlet Letters by Louis Auchincloss A modern take on the classic Hawthorne novel set in 1950's New York.Elizabeth Costello by J.M.
