Revolution in Sound:
50TH Anniversary of the AACM

Wednesday, October 14, 7-8 PM
Multipurpose Room

Join music critic Bill Meyer (Chicago Reader, Wire, Downbeat) and AV librarian Michael White as we explore the history and impact of the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM). We’ll trace the legacy of this important Chicago jazz organization and hear releases by its essential players, past and present (Art Ensemble of Chicago, Roscoe Mitchell, Henry Threadgill). The AACM has been celebrated in 2015 by the DuSable Museum of African American History and a current show at the MCA Chicago. Please join us as we listen to selected tracks and discuss the vibrant music of this Chicago institution. Registration is appreciated.
