Head of Reference

Glenview Public Library seeks an energetic, creative individual with strong personnel skills to lead its Adult Services Reference Department. Requires excellent communication skills, innovative approaches to organizing and problem solving and knowledge of library trends and technology. Responsible for all aspects of administration and management of the Reference Services Department, including personnel, budget, and long range planning. Exciting opportunity to work with management and staff in continued planning for new building, including transitioning staff and services into a new and expanded department. MLS from an ALA accredited institution and minimum of five years’ progressively responsible experience required, including administration and management of a library unit, preferably in a Reference Services public library environment. READER SERVICES

Librarian I - Audiovisual

Seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual who has a knowledge of books, film and music, and who places a high value on quality customer service. Duties include staffing public service desks in Periodicals and Reader Services, providing reference and advisory service to adults and teens, instructing and assisting patrons in using library resources, selection of AV materials, planning and coordinating of AV adult programming, and involvement in the development and maintenance of the movies and music webpages. 30 hours per week, including one evening per week and a weekend rotation. MLS from ALA-Accredited Institution. Knowledge of computers and technology desired. Salary: $19.41 - $21.83/hr. (DOQ).
