Anne & Ida
A Page-to-Stage Program

The annual Page-to-Stage program returns to the Glenview Library with “Anne & Ida: Two Girls and the Holocaust,” Sunday, May 3, 1:30 PM. Select area libraries and the critically acclaimed Writers Theatre of Glencoe explore themes from the Writers Theatre spring production, The Diary of Anne Frank. The Glenview Library will show Ida (80min/PG-13/2013), the 2015 Oscar winner for Best Foreign Language film, telling of a Polish girl’s experiences of coming of age during the Nazi occupation. When she was near Anne Frank’s age, Ida was hidden by nuns and raised as a Catholic—only to discover her Jewish heritage just as she is about to take vows as a nun. Two girls, two stories, two endings. Representatives from the Writers Theatre will join us for a discussion following the film. Register here.
