In celebration of National Library Week 2012, the Talent Rising
Concert Series will host the indie rock quartet, Purple Apple. At the
core of the band are Olivia, Madi, and Noni, three 14-year-old friends
hailing from Glenbrook South High School. Devin, their twentysomething
drummer, rounds out the sound. On the rise in the local music scene,
these talented musicians and songwriters are the youngest band to ever
headline Chicago's legendary rock venue, The Metro. An evening where
loud is allowed at your Library!
Bring on the Blues • Lil' Ed & The Blues Imperials

From smoking slide guitar boogies to the deepest slow blues, guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Lil' Ed Williams is an awe-inspiring master bluesman. He and his road-tested band, The Blues
Imperials—guitarist Mike Garrett, bassist James "Pookie" Young, drummer Kelly Littleton—are
celebrating 20 amazing years together. Bruce Iglauer, founder and president of Chicago-based
blues label Alligator Records, will introduce the evening and share his knowledge of this music so
deeply rooted in our city.
