Who are we? What do we do?
The Friends of the Glenview Library is a group of men and women who have, over the years, given volunteer time and generated funds to add to the library's facilities and its services. In addition to the man and woman hours collectively given to library service, the Friends of the Glenview Library has given the Glenview Public Library, through its Annual Appeal and its benefits, more than $871,000. These private and corporate dollars purchased special equipment and provided unique programs for the library's patrons which would not have been possible through the tax dollars alone.

What do we need?
Answer: A few more good men and women as members of the Friends of the Glenview Library. You can make a difference in the life of your community in many ways. We would like to have YOU decide that you will add this one -- that you will commit to membership in the Friends to help ensure that the quality of our village library continues. We need your ideas and energy and know-how to increase our effectiveness in pursuit of excellence for the Glenview Public Library. There is no doubt that a library is a KEY component of a healthy, fully-functioning community.

YOU are invited!
If you would consider being part of this group of men and women, please call or email, and we can meet to introduce you further to the work and joys of membership.

The time commitment:
Monthly meetings take place from May - November (except for July and August), and your time commitment can reflect precisely the amount of time you want to give/have available to give. See the Program Schedule page: adjustments for 2010.

The dollar commitment: The categories available to new members in 2009 are
1) Active Members: $25/year (tax deductible) plus one benefit ticket ($85 @, partially tax deductible) plus your contribution to the community appeal (tax deductible) in any amount of your choice [contributions range from small ($1) to large].

2) Contributing Members: $50/year (tax deductible), open to all, no time or additional dollar commitment.

3) Life Membership: $500 (tax deductible), open to all, no time or additional dollar commitment.
