Who are The Friends of the Glenview Library?
From a small collection of rented books to the new 85,000 square foot state-of-the art facility, the Glenview Public Library has an illustrious community history. The Friends of the Glenview Library has played a vital role in this continuous growth, serving the Library's mission to educate, enrich, inspire, and entertain with tireless dedication and thoughtful vision.

The Friends organization was established in 1939 as an adjunct group in support of the fledgling library. Since these earliest days of the Library's history, this hardworking group of women and men has been a vibrant Glenview community organization.

The Friends of the Glenview Library is organized exclusively for the charitable, educational, and continuing development of the Glenview Public Library. Proceeds generated by the Friends ongoing fund raising efforts are used to purchase important items not possible in the Library's regular operating budget, as well as to support special projects.

How Do The Friends Support the Library?
The Friends support many services, programs, and technology projects through their Annual Appeal, the Used Book Store, and their yearly Benefit event. As of December 31, 2010, $972,500 has been given to the Library by the Friends organization.
