The new Glenview Public Library offers increased space for public programs, a gallery wall for art exhibits, and many new features to support
music, art, film, topical lectures, and literary events in downtown Glenview. A two-week Festival of Programs has been designed to introduce
the community to a unique blend of cultural enrichment for all ages. Explore all your new library has to offer beyond the books.

Sunday, October 10 • 2 PM The Latin Sounds of Fernandez + Kimball Honor Hispanic Heritage Month with an afternoon of Spanish guitar. Monday, October 11 • 10:30-11 AM Bookin’ with Ronald McDonald (ages 3-5) A special story hour with America’s favorite clown. Tuesday, October 12 • 7 PM An Evening with WTTW’s Geoffrey Baer Meet multiple Emmy Award-winning producer and host/writer of the popular WTTW specials on Chicago. Wednesdays, October 13 • 10 AM & October 20 • 2 PM Talking Tech in the new Tech Lab Learn about the new Library’s expanded technical resources in this informative 45-minute presentation. Thursdays, October 14 & 21 • 7 PM Lyric Opera of Chicago Lecture Series Indulge your passion for Opera. Carmen by Bizet (October 14); Macbeth by Verdi (October 21). Tuesday, October 19 • 7 PM Tragedy to Triumph: The Story of Artemisia A captivating multimedia presentation capturing the life of the most important woman painter of the Baroque era. Thursday, October 21 • 7-8:30 PM Preschool Teacher Welcome Workshop Preschool teachers living or working in Glenview are invited to tea, a tour, and puppet making. Friday, October 22 • 11-4 PM Halloween Make It & Take It Kids with a parent or caregiver are invited to drop in and make a special Halloween craft. Saturday, October 23 • 9 AM-5 PM Meet The Friends Stop by the Friends Used Book Store to learn about this dedicated volunteer organization. Children’s Activities All Month Long Eye-Spy a New Library! Can you spy new places in the Library? Finish the game and you’ll be entered in a prize raffle. Leaf Chain Choose a colorful leaf and inscribe your name. “Leaf” your mark on the new Library. Art in the Library Enjoy this new feature of the Library—a display area for rotating public art exhibits. The Library welcomes Glenview resident Joseph Lekas and a spectacular exhibit of his photography to inaugurate the new gallery wall. |
