Part-Time Security Monitor

The Glenview Public Library is looking for a part – time Security Monitor to maintain order, and ensure a safe environment for library patrons. Responsibilities include supervision of public areas (interior and exterior),etc. Assists staff in handling problems diplomatically and according to appropriate library procedures. May be responsible for securing the building and light maintenance, meeting room set-ups, etc.

Requirements: High school diploma required; some college and/or previous security experience preferred.

Schedule: Schedule includes 18 hours per week, to include late afternoon and evening as well as alternate weekend hours

Hiring Range: $12.11-$15.56/hour (DOQ).

IT Services – Computer Aide (Part-time)

The Glenview Public Library has a part-time opening for a Computer Aide. Duties include, but are not limited to:

Facilitating access to the Library’s Internet and other public computer workstations by registering and assisting patrons with their use;

Acting as a first contact for assisting patrons and staff with technology issues;

Performing basic care and maintenance of Library computer hardware.

Position requires excellent communication, customer service, and computer support skills. The ideal candidate will possess a basic knowledge of technology equipment. Must be able to troubleshoot basic hardware, software, and connectivity issues to resolution. Must be able to collaborate and work well with others. Requirements:

Knowledge of a variety of computer hardware, software and peripherals is essential.

Must be able to lift, bend, stoop, and carry up to 25 pounds.

Schedule: Approximately 13 hours per week; must be flexible for covering day, evening and weekend hours.

Hiring Range: Begins at $9.00/hour - DOQ.

Youth Services - Paraprofessional I (Part-time)

The Glenview Public Library has a part-time opening for a Paraprofessional I in the Youth Services Department. Duties include, but are not limited to: assisting children through grade eight and their caregivers with reference, reader advisory, online catalog and computer resources. Position requires excellent communication, customer service and up-to-date computer skills. The ideal candidate will be flexible, self-motivated, creative, personable and enthusiastic. Must be able to collaborate and work well with others. Applicants should enjoy working with children and assisting with programming. Candidates familiar with children’s literature preferred.

Requirements: BA or BS degree from an accredited college or university, or an LTA and relevant library experience. One year of experience working with youth in a public library setting or related environment.

Schedule: Approximately 12 hours per week; availability for evenings and weekends required.

Hiring Range: Begins at $14.09/hour - DOQ.
