Reader Services -
Paraprofessional I (Part-time)

The Glenview Public Library has a vacancy for a part-time Paraprofessional I in the Reader Services Department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assisting adults and teens with book, movie and music questions at the Reader Services and Audiovisual public service desks; instructing patrons in the use of downloadable materials; and performing various collection-related duties within the department.

Applicants should enjoy working with the public, be proficient in the use of technology, be able to work within a team environment and demonstrate familiarity with popular materials in a variety of formats. Excellence in customer service in patron and staff interactions and an enthusiastic attitude are essential.
This position reports to the Collection Manager and works closely with the Collection Management team.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or an LTA certificate and a minimum of one year relevant library experience, preferably in a public library setting.

Schedule: Approximately 18 hours per week; schedule must be flexible, to include evenings and weekends.

Hiring Range: $14.36 - $16.42/hr. (DOQ).

Reference Services -
Paraprofessional I (Part-time)

The Glenview Public Library has a part-time opening for a Paraprofessional I in the Reference Services Department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: helping patrons with informational and directional questions, in person and over the phone; instructing patrons in the use of the online databases and catalog system; and various clerical duties within the department.

Applicants should enjoy working with the public, be proficient in the use of technology, be able to work within a team environment and demonstrate familiarity with a nonfiction collection. Excellence in customer service in patron and staff interactions and strong communication skills are required. Must be able to collaborate and work well with others within a team environment.

Requirements: BA or BS degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of one year relevant library experience, preferably in a public library setting. LTA certificate also preferred.

Schedule: Approximately 15/hours per week; must be flexible, to include evenings and weekends.

Hiring Range: Begins at $14.36/hour - DOQ.

Youth Services -
Paraprofessional I (Part-time)

The Glenview Public Library has a part-time opening for a Paraprofessional I in the Youth Services Department. Duties include, but are not limited to: assisting children through grade eight and their caregivers with informational and directional questions, in person and over the phone; instructing patrons in the use of the catalog system and online resources; and performing various other duties within the department. Position requires excellent communication, customer service and technology skills.

The ideal candidate will be flexible, self-motivated, creative, personable and enthusiastic. Must be able to collaborate and work well with others within a team environment. Applicants should enjoy working with children and assisting with programming. Candidates familiar with children’s literature preferred.

Requirements: BA or BS degree from an accredited college or university and one year of experience working with youth in a public library setting or related environment. LTA certificate also preferred.

Schedule: Approximately 18 hours per week; must be flexible to cover days, evenings and weekends.
