Forgotten Synagogues of Chicago

Join author Robb Packer as he spans a 150-year history of Chicago synagogue architecture showing how these buildings, no longer synagogues, have evolved into churches, Asian temples, condos, community buildings and even a
mosque. Packer shares personal stories going back 100 years along with his photos. Books will be available for purchase and signing.

The Girls in Concert

Enjoy a delightful afternoon with lovely and talented vocalists Heather Donaldson Moran and Mary Monica Thomas. They’ll perform songs made famous by women vocalists, in honor of Women’s History Month, and share a song or two for
St. Patrick’s Day. The two have performed in many Chicago nightclubs and are critically acclaimed in the press. Jeff Award winning composer and pianist George Howe is their accompanist and musical director. It’s “don’t miss it” music

Chicago Beat: Police Officers Stories

Lake Claremont Press Author Daniel P. Smith has written On the Job: Behind the Stars of the Chicago Police Department, a behind-the-scenes look at their personal stories. Smith, an award-winning journalist and part of a Chicago Police family, explores the
work/life juxtaposition of the men and women – mothers and fathers, realists and idealists, cynics and consolers – who wear the Chicago Police star. A book signing follows.

Homer & Hopper at the Art Institute of Chicago

Preview these current exhibits with Art Historian Claire Cross.View slides of Master Painter Winslow Homer’s watercolors reflective of 19th century American life outdoors and under sunlight. His well-known
seascapes capture the dynamics of coastal waters. Learn about the influence and technique of this beloved American master. The paintings of Edward Hopper captured scenes of modern American life in the 20th
century showing the lonely side of life. His most famous work, “Nighthawks” is part of the Art Institute’s permanent collection.
